Just a thought:

Today I am in Sacramento California, I am here for some training for the company I work for; there is a lot going on in the world right now, as we all know, yesterday we remembered 9/11 and all the hero’s and innocent live taken on that horrible day.
Today we wake to find out one of our embassies was attacked and four diplomats were murdered, including our Sr. Ambassador to Libya over some movie or something, come on, who’s buying that? How many of those mud huts even have cable TV?
But that is not what I want to talk about, what I do want to say is this; last week at the DNC we heard the current president talk about the need for everyone to go to college, that is the gate way to the middle class, or some such nonsense.
OK; so today I am on a shuttle bus at the Sacramento airport that takes us to the car rental lot, and there is this lady driving the shuttle and she is one of the most unbelievable people I have ever run into, she was cheerful and helpful to everyone, at each stop she would get up from her seat and greet each passenger, she took their bags from them and put them in the rack for them and smiled and made us all enjoy the ride, when we reached the rental lot she helped everyone with their bags and wished them a great day. I actually saw people tipping her because of the great service she gave them.
It reminded me of the true greatness of the American worker; it is not wrapped in what they could only have, or what they don’t have, it is about people doing the best job they can and working hard every day at it. Not complaining about what this country owes you, but being grateful for the opportunities it affords you. It’s the steel worker, the truck driver, the construction worker that fights their way to the middle class thru hard work and determination.
Yes collage is a great way to get ahead, but when did we get a point where it is the only path to success, when did blue collar tenacity began to count for so little? This country is great because our freedom gives us options not because we are owed something. “Just a thought”
